Kite Festival

With a 40 foot diameter and 10 feet height, this aluminum sculpture is made up of intertwining perforated and solid metal elements that at night are highlighted by in-grade point sources. Several mock-ups were done to determine the appropriate color temperature, resulting in a warm but lustrous appearance. The minimalist but precise landscape lighting aids in celebrating the large flowing shapes held firmly into positions that defy gravity.
